I had the opportunity to co-design the basketball courts of Samil, in Vigo, together with mural artist Dante Arcade. This project, commissioned by the Vigo City Council, aimed to revitalize the area and give this popular sports space a fresh creative identity. Our joint proposal drew inspiration from the Miami aesthetic, Memphis style, and 90s culture. The result is a retro, vibrant, and bold look that reflects the local vibes while fully preserving the functionality of the courts. A space with enormous potential that deserved something at its level.

 Concept

The goal was to revitalize an underused area in a high-traffic zone — a place where people walk, play sports, or head to the beach.
We wanted something that would bring life, color, and character, while also blending naturally into the landscape.Inspired by Miami aesthetics, 90s culture, and Memphis design, we created a retro, vibrant, and bold look that captured the local vibes without sacrificing functionality.

Design Process

 First Draft

We defined a bold aesthetic, but the layout was overloaded with elements.

Second Proposal

We went for a cleaner approach, with gradients and softer shapes — but the result felt too generic.

✅ Final Design

A hybrid of both: cleaner, more functional, but with key elements that gave it identity — palm trees, patterns, a hidden smiley…

Making Of

It took 15 intense days of work under the Galician sun — painting, templates, adjustments, and many layers.
From early technical planning to the final touches.
